Terms and Conditions  

  • You are of African Origin (at least one parent)

 

  •  You are legally resident in the United Kingdom.

 

  • You are single and aged between the ages of 17 and 38 by 5th October.

 

  • You are not pregnant at the time of Application.

 

  • If crowned Miss Africa GB, you agree to carry out your duties which include attending events and charity work when required. Failure to do so may result in you being stripped off your title which will then go to the 1st runner up if suitable. You will forfeit any prizes not yet received.

 

  • Initial application costs £30 and is non-refundable. If you are selected for the finals (Become a finalist), you will be required to raise up to £200 in sponsorship. This covers preparation and participation fees. This sponsorship fee is only payable by qualified finalists and is non-refundable in part or in full. 

 

  • Qualified finalists also known as Delegates will be given a regional title from their choices at registration. If both choices have been taken, they will have to choose from the available ones.

 

  • Qualified finalist's / Delegates will be required to pay a fee of £150 if they want to be issued with an official Crown and luxury Sash for their region e.g. Miss Africa Birmingham.  The regional title will allow the titleholder to be recognised and carry out official duties in their community before the Grand Finale in October.
  • Finalists must not have posed nude, topless or been involved in any public show of indecency.

 

  • 10.Finalists must be without a criminal record.

 

  • If you win the National final, you will return your crown after your reign or pay £200 to keep it. The sash will be yours for keeps.

 

  • If you are 16-17, you must be accompanied by an adult to the auditions.

 

 RULES AND STANDARDS

 

  1. Reigning Title holders (sashed winner, 1st or 2nd Runner up) of any other Pageant agrees to relinquish their crown or agree that Miss Africa GB will always take 1st priority over the other title. Miss Africa GB may strip the title holder off their position if it is not given 1st priority.
  2. Miss Africa GB Title holders* cannot compete in another pageant during their reign.

 

  1. Applicant understands and agrees that the Miss Africa GB Pageant shall determine all issues as to eligibility to compete and the contestant must agree to abide by that determination both as to themselves and other applicants.                                                                                                                      Management has the right to excuse any contestant up until the day of the pageant if it deems it necessary that such a decision is in the best interest of either the contestant, other contestants,  or the pageant.

 

  1. Delegates will be required to sign a contract which will govern their behaviour and conduct before during and after the pageant.

 

 

  1. Delegates will be expected to partake in all rounds of the competition (talent, cultural, swimsuit and evening wear round)

 

  1. There must be nothing in the contestant’s background that could bring into disrepute any aspect of the contest or its sponsors.
  2. Having signed the entry form and qualified for the final, Delgatess are reminded that they have signed a contract and that to break it is a serious matter.

 

  1. Entry forms must be filled in with names as they are on passports, etc. and not assumed or professional names.
  2. The Miss Africa GB is copyright. No person, nor organisation, may use the title, without the permission of Miss Africa Great Britain Limited.

 

  1. By entering the selection process and ultimately the contest, a contestant grants the organisers or the sponsors of the event, the free and unfettered right to use her name, photographs, voice, likeness, recommendations etc., relating to the contest, its title or any such connection between the contestant and the contest or title in any way it sees fit for advertising or sales promotions purposes, providing such use is not in a manner to cause harm to the contestant’s reputation or name.

 

  1. We cannot guarantee the return of any materials sent to us as part of an application.

 

  1. In the event of any dispute over the execution, rules or results of the contest, the decision of the adjudicator or judges is final. Miss Africa GB indemnifies itself from and can not be held responsible for any decisions made by the judging panel.

 

  1. Contestants agree that from the date of becoming a finalist, until a period of fourteen days after the Grand Final, or for a period of six months after their reign as titleholder ends, they will not, without the prior permission in writing from the organisers, make any statement to the media, either directly or indirectly, nor give any interviews nor write any stories whatsoever appertaining to the competition or involving its name.

 

  1. Contestants agree that their name and photographs may be used by the organiser in any advertising or promotion feature where the names “Miss Africa GB” or “Miss Africa Great Britain” are included, providing such advertising or promotion shall not offend normal good taste.

 

  1. If she wins the Miss Africa GB title, be able to sign a Sole Agency and Management contract with Miss Africa Great Britain Limited and not have another agent which gives such agent any working relationship or fees in connection with her during her year of office.
  2. Winner's prizes that are awarded courtesy of Sponsors are subject to availability with regards to the sponsor. If for any reason, the prize donation from a sponsor is not received, Miss Africa GB will not be liable for the  non receipt of such prizes. 
  3. Contestants or their family will not enter into any disagreement following the event final with any other contestants or judges regarding the judges' decision. 
  4. Delegates must not partake in activities that are seen as malicious or defamatory to other contestants and the Miss Africa GB Organisation. Such behaviour may result in legal action being taken against such contestants.
  5. The Organizer reserves the right to substitute, add to or alter any item on the list of prizes offered before the Finals of the Contest. All prizes won by the Contestant during the Contest shall not be transferable or exchangeable for cash.

IT IS EMPHASISED THAT THE ORGANISERS, DIRECTORS OR STAFF CANNOT IN ANY WAY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THE LOSS OF ANY CONTESTANT’S PERSONAL EFFECTS. LOOK AFTER YOUR OWN EFFECTS AT ALL TIMES. WHEN APPROPRIATE TAKE OUT INSURANCE AND DEPOSIT VALUABLES IN SAFETY DEPOSITS.

 

At the end of the Grand Finale, the organisation reserves the right to only deal with those delegates who hold positions (Queen and Princesses). The end of every pageant terminates the contract between the organisation and other delegates who do not fall within the category(Queen and Princesses) stated above.

ARE THERE AGE REQUIREMENTS?

 Yes. Miss Africa GB contestants must be at least 17 years of age and under 39 years of age by 5th October in the year they hope to compete in the Miss Africa GB pageant.

 

CAN A DELEGATE COMPETE MORE THAN ONCE?

Delegates may compete more than once but a maximum of three times.

 

 ARE DELEGATES REQUIRED TO HAVE A COACH?

No. While some feel more prepared when they work with an experienced person who can give them tips on competition, many women have won titles without any outside training.

 

 CAN CONTESTANTS BE MARRIED?

No! Contestants may not be married or pregnant. The title holders are also required to remain single/unmarried throughout their reign.
