Reigning Miss Africa GB 2015, Susana Owono yesterday 

Reigning Miss Africa GB 2015, Susana Owono yesterday received the Inspiration Woman of the Year2016 Award bestowed upon her by the International Women of Power Organisation. The event took place on the 20th of February 2016 at the Holiday Inn, South Kensington. London.



International Women Of Power Business Show (IWOP) is an annual business show that brings together Women, Entrepreneurs, Start up Ventures and Small Businesses allowing participants to be exposed to the latest Marketing Strategies, Internet Marketing methods, Business Strategies ,Social Media Marketing and Business Funding. 

The organisation believes that every woman can be a successful entrepreneur and with a desire to succeed and achieve greatness if she acquires the necessary skills and knowledge to reach her full potential.

Speakers at the event were Shiva Attah (Keynote Speaker), Dr Augustine Akali (Plastic Surgeon), Tola Onigbanjo (Co-Founder Women4Africa), Diane Shaw (Entrepreneur), Tinuke Masha-Fayoyin (Beauty Coach) and Susana Owono (Miss Africa Great Britain 2015)

 Susana gives her speech

Susana from Equatorial Guinea gave a highly inspirational 20 minute speech talking about her humble beginnings growing up in Spain and her transformation from being a timid nervous person unable to speak in public to a confident, articulate speaker and advocate for the less privileged. She stressed the need to surround yourself with people with positive goals and purpose.

She dedicated the Award to her mother for always looking out for her and her mentor and Director, Dele Onabowu who has been guiding her throughout her journey.

She will be visiting her home country in March 2016 where she will visit two schools, one for orphaned kids and the other for disabled children. She will be donating stationery and learning aids as well as donating wheelchairs and mobility aids to the disabled school.

In her own words, Susana said "

Providing the tools for school life is a simple first step to improving a child's chances for success and consequently future livelihood opportunities. I propose to acquire as many exercise books, pens, Pencils, school bags for as many students as possible. I will also be using this opportunity to provide wheelchairs for disabled school children in dire need of them. "

She will be hosting a Fundraising Gala on the 19th of March at the Ripple Centre in London.

Miss Africa Great Britain is a pageant open to Africans living in the England, Scotland and Wales.

The pageant is highly competitive and seeks to bring out those leadership qualities in women. The winner becomes a goodwill ambassador for Miss Africa GB, charged with designing and implementing a charity program based on her Pageant Platform.
